Penne Alla Vodka Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound penne pasta
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, minced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup vodka
  • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped

Instructions:

Step 1:

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne and cook according to the package directions. When the pasta is done, drain and set aside.

Step 2:

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the red pepper flakes and cook for an additional minute.

Step 3:

Add the vodka and cook until it has almost completely evaporated. Add the crushed tomatoes, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.

Step 4:

Add the heavy cream and simmer for 5 minutes. Add the cooked pasta and stir to combine.

Step 5:

Remove from heat and stir in the fresh basil. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
