Delicious Chicken Casserole With Cream Of Celery Recipe
Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup diced celery
1/2 cup diced onion
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups chicken broth
2 cups diced cooked chicken
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 (10.75-ounce) can cream of celery soup
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
1 (14.5-ounce) can French-style green beans, drained
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat Oven
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
Step 2: Saute Vegetables
Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add celery and onion, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Step 3: Make Roux
Add flour to the skillet, and stir to combine. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Step 4: Add Broth
Slowly add chicken broth, stirring constantly until combined. Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes.
Step 5: Assemble Casserole
Add chicken, salt, pepper, garlic powder, cream of celery soup and 1 cup of the shredded cheese to the skillet. Stir to combine. Pour mixture into the prepared baking dish. Top with green beans, remaining 1 cup of cheese, melted butter and bread crumbs.
Step 6: Bake Casserole
Bake for 25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly. Let cool for 5 minutes, then serve. Enjoy!
