Ingredients
- 8-pound pork shoulder
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup lime juice
Instructions
Step 1: Preparing the Pork Shoulder
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Rinse the pork shoulder and pat dry with a paper towel.
- In a small bowl, mix together the garlic powder, smoked paprika, cumin, oregano, black pepper, and salt.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, making sure to cover every surface.
Step 2: Cooking the Pork Shoulder
- Heat the olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
- Add the pork shoulder and brown on all sides, about 5 minutes per side.
- Remove the pork shoulder from the Dutch oven and set aside.
- In the same Dutch oven, add the white vinegar, orange juice, and lime juice and stir to combine.
- Return the pork shoulder to the Dutch oven and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Cover the Dutch oven with a lid and transfer to the preheated oven.
- Cook for 2 hours, flipping the pork shoulder halfway through.
Step 3: Finishing the Pork Shoulder
- Remove the Dutch oven from the oven and allow the pork shoulder to rest for 10 minutes.
- Using two forks, shred the pork shoulder.
- Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!
